About Dr Faiza Khan

As a GP specialising in mental health, I offer a unique approach that combines medical expertise with comprehensive psychological care. My practice stands out because I can provide therapy sessions under a mental health treatment plan, offering both physical and mental health assessments in one place. No GP referral is required.

My areas of expertise are diverse, encompassing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress and burnout, women’s health issues (such as PCOS, endometriosis, subfertility, perimenopause, and menopause), grief and loss, adjustment to stressful life transitions, maintaining emotional wellbeing, parenting, relationship difficulties, smoking cessation, weight loss (without medications), childhood attachment issues, and trauma-informed care.

I am a clinical doctor with a focus on understanding the patient’s journey rather than just noting the clinical presentation. For instance, if a patient presents with symptoms such as tiredness, difficulty concentrating, and sleep issues, I delve deeper into their psychosocial history. I explore their routine, priorities, social activities, relationships, job satisfaction, spiritual wellbeing, and how they unwind. I’m interested in understanding if they’re living in alignment with their values. While considering physical causes like anaemia, nutritional deficiencies, or medication side effects, I also explore the impact of chronic stress and mood changes, their ability to accept and work with change, and how thoughts and behaviours influence their choices. My goal is to understand patients as individuals with unique belief systems and mindsets, rather than just focusing on diagnoses.

I educate patients about the integration of physical and emotional wellbeing, encouraging a balanced approach to improve overall health outcomes. I aim to help them explore themselves better in a compassionate and non-judgmental way, setting realistic goals and expectations.

On a personal note, I’m a mum of three children and two cats. I’m an avid reader and book listener, with a passion for writing. In my free time, I enjoy watching K-dramas, particularly psychological and detective series, as well as medical dramas. I’m a lover of strong chai and value deep, meaningful connections over numerous superficial friendships.

With years of experience listening to thousands of people’s intimate life journeys, I’ve gained invaluable insights. I combine this knowledge with my own lived experience of grief and loss to empower people to live more meaningful and purposeful lives.

These credentials underpin my commitment to providing comprehensive, empathetic care that addresses both the physical and emotional aspects of health.
