Somewhere along the line, we have started to pursue goals as a destination and not the journey. The destination, in my opinion, is not a tangible thing and creates an illusion of a dream that we all need to keep striving for, yet will never achieve.
Getting married, having children, owning a house, cars, building a career are not our destination. They form parts of our journey.
I wonder how the world would be if we chose to be human beings who fulfil their own emotional and physical needs in a mindful way along with creating a supportive environment for others to do the same. What if our lives became an extension of each other and we learnt from our mistakes, worked hard to manage our shortcomings and unsuccessful projects, and remained honest to ourselves and others?
Wouldn’t it be incredible to have communities where kindness, compassion, integrity, trust and respect were fostered and nurtured in a wholesome way?
As I look around societies and nations today, I can’t help but wonder…
This utopian dream has always driven me to keep striving for whatever we can achieve in any capacity because compassion, empathy and genuine respectful connections not only build resilient relationships, they also nurture hope.
And without hope and purpose, we can achieve everything material, yet nothing of value or fulfilment.
May our hearts be sustained by beautiful and inspiring hope and our lives enriched with meaningful purpose.
